Focused in Awareness Course:
“This class has made me focus on the patterns. I think sometimes we don’t realize the patterns; we just automatically get stuck in the behavior and don’t realize there’s a pattern. This class has brought that to me in more ways than one.”
“After the second class I realized how judgmental I was; I’m judging me and everything, you know? Every thought I had – I can’t even have a thought without placing judgment on it. And that’s gone away quite a bit; it still comes up but not as often as it did then.”
“Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have been slacking on my meditation somewhat. However, I've used the "tool" of breath to save me from countless hours of over-dramatizing (in my head of course).”
“Since participating in this class, I recognize that hiding or replacing the emotions does not help, it just sets me up for another “emotional issue” further down the road. I recognize that the emotions need to be allowed, to be felt but felt with equanimity and that I am not a “bad person” for having those “bad emotions.” And also important is that there aren’t really “bad emotions,” they just are, they happen naturally! I recognize that I can learn and grow from allowing the emotions to just be and to be felt. I have experienced first-hand that the emotion can actually dissipate after 90 seconds if you feel it fully. I just need to continue practicing it, the hardest part of all!”
“I think perhaps that some of the things I am experiencing are just so subtle that they are difficult for me. The watching of the emotions instead of reacting to them is difficult and just will take practice. At times, I will instead want to “talk things out” with friends. This again creates some drama and “stories” about a situation, but at the same time, it is helpful for me to have an outlet to talk to about something that has occurred that is stressful to me. I think from what I understand, if I can talk about an issue but still not allow myself to get “caught up” in the drama and stories, talking to friends can still be a positive outlet, correct? I think that is what I need to learn next – how better to apply the teachings to the real world, where lots of things are going on at the same time that need immediate reactions, that tend to quickly take my attention away.”
“I was just deleting from my email the quotes I had sent to a friend who is in a different place than I am. He has converted to Roman Catholicism – something I grew up with but no longer resonates in any way with me. The quotes resonated with him. I realize now that I was not looking at him with equanimity because I was judging his involvement with Catholicism as somehow "beneath" where he should be... I am learning and growing... Thank you for teaching this class, Ralph.”
“I received an email last week that sent me through the roof! I was in the process of writing an angry response when I remembered what we had said in class about the 90 second rule in emotions. I realized that I was feeding my anger and not letting it subside. I stopped and returned to the email later. I still wrote to her that I thought her response was inappropriate, but it was a more reasoned approach.”
Cultivating Awareness Sessions (Sessions for businesses, organizations and schools):
“Ralph Lewis was the best consultant we have had. He is an excellent group facilitator who quickly gets to the core of any issue, allows us to address it, and move forward. He helped us accomplish everything we set out to do: identify problems, address all issues, and move forward as a group with a shared mission and vision. Our day with him was worth every minute!” - Principal, Shorewood High School, Shorewood, WI.
“Ralph is able to focus and move the group to determine the core essence of the vision. He does this with great integrity and knowledge.” - Ellenbecker Investment Group, Inc. Elm Grove, WI.
“Ralph was a true facilitator, asked great questions and created the environment in which the answers could find their way from within all of us onto the written page.”
"I appreciated the reflective nature of Ralph‘s style (I really felt we were being heard and that he was being led from within as he facilitated the work.)" “I will happily and confidently recommend Ralph to other ministers (or anyone else, for that matter!) who are considering this type of work for their organizations.”
- Unity West Church Board of Trustees, Wauwatosa, WI.
Cultivating Awareness Sessions (Individual Sessions):
"I want to thank Ralph Lewis at Expanse Consulting for helping me attain peace of mind by learning how to correctly breathe and meditate. It is a simple yet forgotten skill that I had to relearn. Having a busy and hurried lifestyle was making me more nervous. Now, I don't feel like I have to listen to the radio or have to be talking on the phone whenever I'm in the car or whenever there is the slightest bit of free time. I don't have to 'kill time.' As a result I'm more aware of what is going on and how I am reacting to my thoughts. The thoughts and emotions are more controllable and clear. I'm a lot more focused. Thanks again, Ralph!" - H.G., Mequon, WI.
“The session with you showed me a simple and concise way to stay in alignment with my core beliefs.” - J.A., Thiensville, WI.
“Thanks, Ralph, for sharing who you are so I can be connected to the light within myself, and opening my heart to see what is truly there - the heart of the matter. I can’t believe how much the session has opened my heart and eyes to what I can choose to BE!“ - L.B., Wauwatosa, WI.
“Thank you for guiding my vision statement. I’m grateful for the different analogy you gave me to use so that I could break through my old pattern. Yahoo!” - J.R-J., Madison, WI.
Workshops:
“No matter how many books I’ve read, workshops I’ve attended or conversations I have had with people I think know more than I do, one of the most valuable things I’ve learned is to connect with the wisdom and peace within myself. I have Ralph Lewis to thank for helping me accomplish this. Attending any of Ralph’s workshops is time well spent.” - P.N. Mequon, WI
“The workshop gave me concise information about what is pertinent for me now as a basis for going forward.” - B.L., Milwaukee, WI.
“As we grow through life, we are offered opportunities to learn, love and live. What we choose to do with these opportunities varies with our knowledge base of our own true selves. The more we learn about ourselves, the more profound our choices become.
In recent years I have been building a new relationship with myself. Learning about who I truly am, not just what others believe I am or want me to be. About 6 months ago I had the opportunity to be part of a workshop Ralph conducted where he guided the participants to see clearly and honestly into the essence of our heart’s desires and to find out what was preventing us from achieving them.
For me, this time wasn’t about leaving the workshop that day and thinking I’d be walking directly into bliss. It was about being open to looking at things in a new light. it was about introducing me to what was true and possible for me. it was about integrating aspects of mind and heart, thought and action and creating movement into the next positive step of my life.
Ralph Lewis offers opportunities. Spending time with him and his ability to look at things from a different, clearer aspect moved me to a more insightful look at myself. I have made several changes, both big and small, in my life since that workshop. Thanks, Ralph, for offering the opportunity to ‘bring light to the heart of matters’ in my life.” - C.D., Brown Deer, WI.
Relaxation/Meditation Classes:
“The class helped me relax so I could get back on target on particularly stressful days. I was much better able to concentrate following the class. I also learned some techniques I could use to center myself during the day, even outside the class. I would recommend it for everyone!” - United States Bowling Congress. Greendale, WI.
“I have personally found the time most rewarding as it has helped me eliminate and reduce the stress in my life and has also taught me how to relax not only at work but at home. Want to unwind without drugs? It’s the perfect prescription to help you unwind.” - R.J., Milwaukee, WI.
“We live in a busy world that pulls us in many directions. The Relaxation/Meditation class has taught me techniques to quiet my mind and body and pull away from the “busyness”. We all need to do this in order to be more creative and allow our minds and bodies some time to relax and be free from stress. Try it - you’ll be glad you did.” - H.K., Milwaukee, WI.
“I have found the class to be very rewarding. The breathing techniques I learned have helped me to reduce the stress at work and to get myself focused as well as a great benefit in lowering blood pressure. I feel my time has been well spent in attending these classes.” - M.H., Milwaukee, WI.
“The class has given me relaxation without drugs. I can come to the class totally frazzled, but I can find peace and calm as you lead our group with your mellow voice. I find that I can sometimes lose myself as I drift away to peace and relaxation (and I don’t mean falling asleep). I can come back refreshed ready to start all over again. Everyone should try this class at least once, they will come back for more!!” - P.G., Milwaukee, WI. |
